If you are looking for a traditional English pub look no further. This one dates back a few hundred years and has lots of beams and a roaring fire in the winter (it could be a gas effect living flame but still looks the part). It is tucked away off the main street behind Marks and Spencer and next to St Cuthberts Church and customers can sit outside in the summer months and watch the world go by. If you would rather sit inside the pub is not very big - snug and cosy describe it I would say. They serve bar meals up to 7pm most days and also serve food on Sundays too. The menu ranges from sandwiches, baked potatoes cheeseburgers, all day breakfast, to fish and chips, curries, lasagne etc and there is also a changing Specials board too. You can get many fine beers here as well as a cup of tea if that is more your tipple. Service could be faster but as long as you are able to sit and have a leisurely meal it isn't too slow - at least when the food comes it is piping hot and obviously cooked to order. Prices for main meals are about £7-£9 but they looked delicious and you get a large plateful.

A good number of real ales on tap, given the overall size of the place. A little off the beaten track but frequented by chatty locals and with a mine of local history & information displayed around its walls, making it a very welcoming establishment indeed.

If you are looking for a old fashioned pub, with the traditional stuffs inside, then this place is to be

It is quite cramped, with a roaring real fire, and the heat is overpowering on your face

The booze are really cheap, and it is cramped actually.

    Not wheelchair friendly place

The decor is very old, with wooden beaming on the walls and ceiling. I have been in there a few times, but still feels creepy..
